Biography
Dr. Matthew Schmidt has been with Fluke since 2005 and has been a Fellow since 2017. Before Fluke, he was the VP of Engineering & CTO of Infrared Solutions Inc. In the late 1990s, he co- founded a MedTech startup and worked as a Semiconductor Device and Process Engineer. He has a Ph.D. In solid state physics from the University of Minnesota.
Published Works
Dr. Schmidt has multiple publications covering testing methods with infrared cameras, detecting gas leaks. with infrared cameras, novel oxygen therapy devices for people on long-term oxygen therapy, the physics of high-temperature superconductors--and more! You can view some of them here.
Awards
Dr. Schmidt has received three Danaher Innovation Awards (one gold, two bronze) and has been granted over 20 patents.
Accomplishments
Dr. Schmidt has helped drive the innovations in thermal imaging (TI) that have enabled Fluke to grow TI revenue from about $30M to more than $100M between 2005 and 2009.
