Biography

Thomas has been in product compliance for more than 20 years at Fluke. Early on, he was responsible for setting up a modern EMC lab and what was to become his primary focus, equipment safety evaluation. After evaluating more than 100 products across the Fluke portfolio and growing his expertise in the field, Thomas began seeing flaws and deficiencies in the safety standards he was using to evaluate equipment. He joined the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TC66 in 2011 and has been convenor of Working Group 1 since 2014, leading the development and improvement of these standards.

Awards

Thomas was awarded the 1906 award from the IEC.


Accomplishments

Through rigorous product evaluation and test application, Thomas has maintained the Fluke brand promise of product safety and reliability. He’s also authored rational and pragmatic safety requirements that govern the measurement and laboratory equipment industry. These requirements are customer-focused and based on thoughtful risk assessment and the foreseeable misuse of equipment.
